Truus’ Children
2Doc · 90 minutes
Truus Wijsmuller, the resistance heroine who saved thousands of Jewish children, and some of those rescued children, now elderly, are at the heart of this documentary.
The story
Through her tireless dedication, ingenuity and courage she brought more than 10,000 children, most of them Jewish, to safety in the darkest years of our modern history.
Her negotiations with Adolf Eichmann, in the lion’s den in Vienna, marked a breakthrough in what would grow into one of the largest rescue operations in history: the Kindertransports.Truus’ Children
The edit
We edited the 90-minute documentary, broadcast as a 2Doc on NPO 2 and also available on Netflix.
We also made a 50-minute version.
Bringing the archive to life
The film relies on a large number of documents and photos from the archive: portraits, family photos, telegrams and letters.
We created the visuals that bring that material to the screen, composed in rooms, with light and depth, so that the history on paper becomes tangible.
Additional cinematography
Alongside Freek Zonderland’s beautiful camerawork we provided additional cinematography.
